Woman in Critical Condition After Head-On Crash in Kenosha County; Man Arrested for Interference

A violent crash on Basset Road near Twin Lakes took a bizarre turn when a local resident allegedly interfered with the investigation, leading to his arrest.

A 40-year-old woman is fighting for her life after a devastating head-on crash in Kenosha County late Friday night.

The collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Basset Road, a rural stretch near Twin Lakes.

Officials with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office reported that the woman was driving a Nissan Rogue when she struck a John Deere grain drill being towed by a Ford F-350 pickup.

The force of the impact was so severe that the woman was ejected from her vehicle.

She was immediately airlifted by Flight for Life to a Milwaukee hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

As the Kenosha County Major Crash Assistance Team began its complex reconstruction of the scene, the situation escalated unexpectedly.

While deputies were using a drone to capture aerial evidence, a 39-year-old man from a nearby residence allegedly began shining a flashlight at the device and at law enforcement officers.

Authorities say the man ignored multiple commands to stop and became confrontational.

Deputies believed him to be intoxicated as he yelled and advanced toward them.

The distraction proved costly.

The drone operator was forced to divert his attention, causing the drone to crash into nearby trees.

The 39-year-old resident was arrested and is now facing several charges, including resisting and obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage to property.

Investigators have stated that the 43-year-old driver of the truck is cooperating fully, and alcohol is not considered a factor in the initial crash.
