Mar 16, 2026The proposed Hard Rock Casino Kenosha has taken a major step forward after the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs released a draft environmental assessment, finding that the new casino would have minimal impact on local air, water, and traffic.
Located near I-94 and County Highway K, the project aims to transform farmland into a vibrant entertainment hub.
The Menominee Tribe worked closely with Kenosha officials in early 2024, forging vital agreements to advance the development.
Federal approval is still required, with Wisconsin’s governor holding the final decision.
Previous efforts in 2015 stalled over concerns about financial impacts to other tribal agreements.
Menominee Tribal Chair Joey Awonohopay expressed hope, emphasizing the project’s potential to create more than 1,000 permanent jobs and address critical local needs.
Kenosha leaders are encouraging public input to help shape this transformative opportunity.
