Kenosha Man Recharged With Felony After Case Was Initially Dismissed |
New criminal filing comes just days after a misdemeanor case was thrown out in court |
A Kenosha man is facing renewed legal trouble after prosecutors refiled charges against him only days after an earlier case was dismissed.
Court records show the man was originally charged with misdemeanor offenses connected to allegations that he threatened police officers and spat at them during an incident.
That case was dismissed earlier in the week when a court commissioner ruled the complaint did not provide enough factual detail to support the charges.
Two days later, prosecutors returned to court with a new filing — this time charging the man with a felony. The updated charge addresses the deficiencies cited in the earlier dismissal and allows the case to move forward under a higher level offense.
As part of the new filing, the court set a $2,500 cash bond, meaning the defendant must post the full amount in order to be released while the case proceeds.
The refiling ensures the matter remains active in the court system despite the earlier setback.
No additional details have been released publicly beyond what appears in the court documents.
The case will now move through the felony court process, where further hearings are expected.
